Florida Representative Interrupts C SPAN Coverage To Honor UCF

Central Florida isn't letting go of its national champion declaration after finishing the season undefeated. And it's getting more and more people on board, despite Alabama winning the actual title over Georgia on Monday night.

Tuesday, Florida Rep. Stephanie Murphy took it to the next level and delivered a short speech on the House floor, recognizing the Knights' 13-0 record and Peach Bowl win over Auburn - the team that beat the two championship contenders.

I delivered a floor speech today to recognize the accomplishments of our #PeachPerfect@UCF_Football team. Their spectacular 13-0 season captivated, unified, and inspired our central Florida community. I'm proud to represent them in Congress! #FlaPolpic.twitter.com/EDqxLWMlvR

"Even though UCF was not given the opportunity to play for the national championship, the players and coaches of this team are national champions in my book. The Knights didn't just win games; they also won our hearts. They didn't just beat opponents; they also beat the odds."

UCF is still salty about being excluded from the College Football Playoff and has repeatedly trolled the system in addition to having a parade and giving out championship bonuses.

Murphy - who represents the district in which UCF is located - mentioned some of the Knights' season highlights, including the "exhilarating and excruciating" American Athletic Conference championship double-overtime win against Memphis and her friendly bowl game wager with the Texas congressman who represents the district in which Auburn is located.

Thank you to @RepMikeRogersAL for coming by my office today to fulfill his part of our UCF-Auburn #PeachBowl bet. And thank you to @UCF_Football for saving me from having to vandalize an oak tree on U.S. Capitol grounds. I will enjoy my oranges! #ChargeOnpic.twitter.com/VqL0t1LIPI

She also gave a shout-out to a handful of players and now-former head coach Scott Frost, who is taking over at Nebraska next season.

Murphy's speech is on the heels of Florida Governor Rick Scott's official proclamation that UCF is the national champion in the state of Florida.
