That it might be the most amazing time of my life if viewed positively-if goals and plans were set diligently.
No one told me that it would be the most productive period of my life , that I would be able to homeschool my children which would result into making of various products , starting initiatives and horning my writing skills.
I wish someone could have told me that home is the best place to harness an individual brilliance .I learnt to be curious in the kitchen-having fire, food and fun by being cautious not allowing cooking to become an anxiety-rush situation .
My husband being a better cook than I was;I chose to experiment instead of competing ,and I won .As ihe had to adjust his thinking and learn from a kitchen laboratory specialist.
I became the bathroom investigator because of the good amount of water and plenty of germs.I tested the tons of chemical we use in the bathroom -finding out what worked and what played about with our psychology to make us buy-even if its salt diluted in water, plus our power of belief that it would work.
After reading almost twenty or more of the toilet cleaners labels and instructions for use,i started to recognize the dominant chemicals ,and a little research gave me insights of why they were used.
I thought of how to come up with better ones, safer ones ,refillable ones, the bathroom become an innovation mine. I put on my gloves, safety shoes,shower-cape,overall and got to the bottom of the bathroom problems.
I found solutions, nabbed germs, thought of coming up with a better bowl for the female gender.Though I was the lead investigator, inventing and innovating proved illusive but I came out with a children manuscript.
I chose to be happy staying at home because of my children, they were my beloved guinea pigs, we experimented together , broke down the high walls of parenthood, sang ,danced, made funny faces, told them stories about my childhood, taught them about money, about sex, about dating and technology and from these ;writing became bearable as we worked on super projects and come up with products and services.
While they earn scholarships and fellowships having learnt from each other because of the compounding effect ,I am at peace with myself that I chose to stay at home.
Looking back at the decision I made;it has rewarded me and my family because I became the family Google which made it easy for them to search for answers.
I also appreciated the priceless time which I had on my side to fulfill most of my dreams and wishes. And doing all that with the people who love me and appreciate me most,in the confines of my home, dictating my own time, standards, rules ,terms and regulations.
What else could I had asked for?
The saddest thing which could have happened to me was to have had all the time and not knowing what to do with it.
I tried my best not to let my goals and targets make me grumpy,it would have spread like some odourless gas,and even the family cat would have wished i was working far from home.
If someone would have told me all this before,i am sure I would have taken the advice with a pinch of salt, but after joining the stay at home club with my eyes wide open,I was able to innovate, initiate and join business acceleration centers where I met peers ,mentors and co-creators and won competitions.
I would not be surprised when one of my children became a stay at home parent in the future.
