Willie McGinest is continuing to beat the drum that various former Patriots have beaten over the past week, defending the culture of their franchise. This all steams from Eagles tackle
Lane Johnson telling Barstool's Pardon My Take that New England is a "fear-based organization" that no one enjoys being a part of.
While appearing on FS1's Undisputed on Tuesday, McGinest said that Johnson's claim couldn't be further from the truth.
"He's never been in that locker room or never really shared that culture or understand I was one of the guys who created that culture in that locker room," he said. "Amongst the players there is a certain amount of pressure that we created because we wanted players to play and be accountable and be a certain way.
"A lot of the time that locker room ran the team and things didn't really get up to Belichick and to the coaching staff and all that."
McGinest continued that they also were able to have plenty of fun moments during his time with the Patriots, even though that may not be how the inner working of the five-time Super Bowl champs is perceived to the outside NFL world.
"I don't know what locker room you were referring to, but we had camaraderie night every week," he said. "We partied all the time. It's fun when you're winning football games."
"For Lane Johnson to come out and say it's a fear-based culture, makes no sense. He's never been in that locker room... I was one of the guys who created that culture in that locker room." — @WillieMcGinest pic.twitter.com/TsocCKm4zB— UNDISPUTED (@undisputed) February 13, 2018
McGinest has been credited by Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick and the rest of the Patriots brass for setting the tone for the organization at the start of this dynastic run, so it's no surprise he's coming to its defense now. Along with McGinest, Tedy Bruschi and Troy Brown have also dismissed Johnson's claim about New England.
